“Growing up on the farm, I remember riding in the cab with my dad just taking it all in, eyes about ready to pop out of my head, mesmerized by the work. I just loved it,” says Alex Boekelheide, a fourth generation grower. Growing up on the family farm, Alex has been helping out with the Boekelheide & Sons corn and soybean operation since he could walk.

Alex shares what many of our customers have: a passion for what they do. Farming is so ingrained in Alex’s blood, he pursued studying Ag Production in college with a goal of taking his training back to the family farm.

Alex plans to stay on the operation as long as he can and hopes to continue his family’s legacy. “Hopefully one day when my dad is ready to retire, he’ll have all the confidence in the world in me, knowing that the operation he’s built from the ground up is going to be safe and continue to be successful.”

Our team at the Innovation Center is focused on listening to each grower’s needs and helping them find the most practical solutions for their individual goals. Alex trusts the Innovation Center with recommending the precision ag equipment and technologies that will best suit their operation. “When you purchase from the Innovation Center, you’re getting more than just a product. You’re getting a team that’s going to stand behind the product and be fully committed to keep your operation running strong.”

We’ve worked with Boekelheide & Sons for years on many of their precision ag platforms from Spring planting to Fall harvest and every season in between. Alex explains, “One year, during planting, we thought we could maybe control our planters better if we could monitor our meter performance. So we explained our goal to the team at the Innovation Center and they came up with a solution. We got it installed in the off season so we were up and running in no time in the Spring.” Setting up the planting monitors for Boekelheide & Sons to communicate in real time helped them review planted acres so they wouldn’t double-plant or miss any spots, which continues to help them stay productive and efficient during a critical time in the production cycle.

Helping with routine maintenance during the off season is also important in keeping growers’ operations running strong. Alex describes his experience, “The Innovation Center works hand in hand with the grower at the end of the season to determine what worked, what didn’t, and to see where we need to improve. They help us get down to problems that maybe we didn’t know we had, like working with us during Fall harvest to more accurately collect and analyze yield data to help us make more informed decisions for the following year.”

The newest precision ag technologies help our growers constantly improve their efficiencies to work towards breaking the next yield barriers in the field. Alex and his family work closely with the experts at the Innovation Center to stay on the cutting edge to keep their equipment and operation running strong year-round.

Every operation is as unique as our growers’ fields. We aim to understand each of our growers’ individual needs to provide customized solutions with the latest technologies that will improve each grower’s bottom line.
